Underneath a monster supercell by Mark De Bruin

Monster storm at Faribault, Minnesota

Still feels like a dream being under such an otherworldly storm. The twisting of the updraft of this supercell was just incredible to watch.

This was the setup I’ve been talking about for over a week now, and this shot was the culmination of all of our hard work. Hunter and I led a storm chasing caravan of 10 people in 4 cars to the triple point in south central Minnesota and waited for storms to pop and ride the warm front east.

We spent an hour racing through tornado warnings to get to the best (and safest) positions. We saw three supercells all with incredible structure and even possibly a brief tornado.

Taken on March 10, 2021.
